Public Speaker

My experience

As a motivational speaker, I have spoken to many different types of audience; small, large, schools and colleges, radio listeners and charity events. I have spoken to audiences about my struggles with deafness and the challenges I have had to overcome to live the life I want. My talks have covered different topics based on my life experiences. I hope to use my story to motivate and inspire my audiences.

I have spoken on deafness, usher syndrome, building self-confidence, mental health, education and making friends.

I have been fortunate to travel around the world to attend a number of events and conferences including Classic FM in London, the World Health Organisation in Switzerland and workshops in Denmark to share my personal experience.

United Nations

The United Nations Youth Forum gave Qais Khan, a board member of CIICA, the unique opportunity to advocate as a young deaf person with a CI – and to ensure that people listened to what is needed to make cities accessible and sustainable and safe for all. Thanks to Bowen Tang and International Federation of Hard Of Hearing Young People for the opportunity!

World Health Organisation

I took my story to the World Health Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland on World Hearing Day 2017. I did this to raise awareness of hearing loss and to deliver a call to action to policy makers around the world to make hearing health care a high priority.

Furniture and Product Design Course

“Without a doubt, the course has given me the opportunity to stretch myself and feel positive about my design and making ideas.”

Humans of Pakistan

“I was born deaf, which meant I couldn’t speak either. When I turned 3, I got an operation done, miraculously helped and I could now hear and speak. But I lacked communication skills, I hated myself for the disability I had. During the high school I had no friends, students would make fun of me, I was unable to talk properly. All this made me hate life, and I wanted to give up on it. When one day, as I sat in silence I thought about all the good that had happened to me, in spite of all the struggles. I completed college and had gone into Nottingham Trent University. That day, I thanked God for all that He had blessed me with, a loving family, success, and the ability to do something amazing in life. I resolved to look beyond the imperfections of life and now I have a positive outlook. This is what brought me back from the brink of ending my life. I now know that this life is worth so much more, you just need to look closer.”
